Seed
of life
One radius.
Seven circles.
A field born from repetition.
Compass study / 01–07
Never change the radius.
Place the compass point on the circumference or at the next intersection. Every circle is identical; only its centre moves.
-
01
Begin with one circle
Choose a centre and draw the first circle. Keep the compass opening fixed from this moment onward.
-
02
Move to the edge
Place the compass point anywhere on the first circle’s edge. Draw a second circle with the same radius.
-
03
Use the intersection
The two circles create new crossing points. Move the compass point clockwise to the next point on the original edge.
-
04
Continue the rhythm
Repeat the move. The centres now begin to describe a hexagon around the first circle.
-
05
Cross the centre line
Keep following the circumference. Do not measure again—the existing intersections guide the compass.
-
06
Close the orbit
One position remains. The repeated circle is almost back where the sequence began.
-
07
The Seed of Life
Draw the final circle. Six equal circles now orbit the first: a complete Seed of Life.
